Does colored vinyl sound different from black vinyl?
Not at all, and this is worth explaining because pressed color vinyl has a reputation for sounding slightly worse. Our color records are two pieces of clear vinyl with a print of your chosen color sealed between them, and the grooves are lathe-cut into the vinyl exactly the way they are on a black record. The color never touches the playing surface, so the sound is identical. Pick the color you love; the music doesn't care.
How is a color vinyl record made?
A sheet printed in your chosen color is sandwiched between two pieces of clear vinyl, and then your audio is lathe-cut into the disc in real time, same as every record we make. The result is a record where the color glows from inside the vinyl rather than sitting on the surface.
What colors can I choose from?
Eight preset colors: Hot Pink, Electric Blue, Neon Green, Sunset Orange, Royal Purple, Ruby Red, Golden Yellow, and Ocean Teal. Or skip the presets entirely and pick any custom color from the full spectrum with the color picker. If you can name the color, we can cut a record in it.
Can I match the vinyl color to my cover artwork?
Yes, and it's one of the best moves you can make. The color is printed, not mixed from dye batches, so any color you pick in the editor is the color you get. Use the custom picker to pull a shade straight from your cover design and the record and sleeve read as one object.
Will the color wear off or fade?
It can't. The color is sealed inside the record, between the two layers of vinyl, so there's nothing on the surface to scratch, chip, or rub off. Play it as much as you want.
Can I still customize the center labels on a colored record?
Yes. The center labels on both sides are yours to design, same as the covers. A lot of people put photos on the labels so the disc carries faces as well as color.
Is colored vinyl more expensive than black?
A bit, yes. Color is a premium finish, and the current price is right at the top of this page (prices are live, no hidden fees, and the price includes full customization of covers and labels). Black is the budget-friendlier option if the color isn't the point for you.
