Everything you need to know about creating your custom vinyl record.
Simply click "Start Creating" or browse our templates to begin. You can customize all 6 parts of your vinyl package: front and back covers, Side A and Side B labels, and the vinyl surface itself (for picture discs). Upload your own music files, or use our music search engine to find songs - we'll purchase and license the music on your behalf! Add your artwork, and place your order!
Yes! Your designs are automatically saved to your browser's local storage. If you create an account, your designs will be saved to your account and accessible from any device.
After placing your order, you'll receive an email confirmation with your order details. Your custom vinyl will be individually cut using our professional lathe cutting process, then carefully packaged and shipped to you.
Orders are final. Because every record is custom-made, we move orders into our production queue as soon as possible, and once an order is in the queue it can't be removed or canceled. If you need to change, modify, or cancel something, email support@vinylmixtapeshop.com within 2 hours of placing your order with your order number. If your record hasn't gone into the queue yet, we'll do our best to accommodate you, though we can't guarantee it.
Read the full cancellation policy →Most orders ship within 8-10 business days. Please note that expedited shipping methods at checkout (like UPS Second Day Air) do not skip production time — they only speed up delivery once your record ships. During the holiday season (November through February), production times may extend to 15-20 business days due to high demand. We recommend ordering early during these periods.
Currently, we ship within the United States. International shipping is coming soon! Join our newsletter to be notified when we expand our shipping options.
Your custom vinyl is carefully packaged in protective mailers designed specifically for records to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.
A properly cared-for custom vinyl record can last decades. Like any vinyl, the lifespan depends on how it's stored and played. Keep your record in its sleeve when not in use, store it vertically (not stacked flat), and play it on a turntable with a properly weighted tonearm and clean stylus. Avoid extreme heat and direct sunlight. With reasonable care, your custom vinyl record will be a keepsake you can play for years.
We support MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, and WMV audio files. For best quality, we recommend WAV files, but high-quality MP3s (320kbps) work great too!
Each side can hold up to 20 minutes of audio.
Each record is individually cut using a professional lathe cutting process, not mass-produced. This artisan approach ensures every vinyl is unique. It is important to note that the sound quality can't match that of a pressed record, but it will have a unique character and sound that is all its own. Your music goes through a careful mastering process to optimize the sound for vinyl. The result is a warm, organic sound that's distinctly analog - different from pressed records, with its own special character. You'll hear some cracks and pops like an old timey record which will soften over time. Lathe-cut records also play at a noticeably lower volume than pressed records, so expect to turn your amplifier up more than you would for a store-bought album - that's normal and not a defect. Think of it as the difference between a handwritten letter and an email. Both deliver your message, but one has that personal touch that makes it special.
Listen to the difference between lathe-cut and pressed vinyl →These custom vinyls are for personal use only. You can use any music for your personal vinyl, but please don't resell records containing copyrighted material you don't own.
Yes — making a mixtape on vinyl is exactly what we do. A vinyl mixtape is a custom vinyl record with your own playlist of songs from any artists you choose. Upload your own audio files or search our music library to build a playlist with up to 40 minutes total (20 minutes per side). We'll cut your mixtape onto a real lathe-cut 12" vinyl record with your custom cover art and labels. Many of our customers create vinyl mixtapes as anniversary gifts, wedding favors, or birthday surprises.
We support JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, and SVG image formats.
For best print quality, images should be at least 300 DPI. Lower resolution images may work but could appear pixelated or blurry when printed. If you zoom in on an image in the editor, be aware that quality may decrease.
The best photos are bright, in focus, and have good contrast. Avoid blurry, dark, or heavily filtered images. Remember that your image will be printed at 12 inches, so details matter!
Yes! We have a growing library of professional templates you can customize with your own text and images. It's a great starting point if you're not sure where to begin.
